New Pattern: Round Shoulder Bag

New Pattern: Round Shoulder Bag

JM401 - Round Shoulder Bag

This pretty round bag comes in two sizes, and both sit nicely on your shoulder. The darts make it roomy, but there's an inside pocket to keep your necessities close at hand. The top flaps are held closed with a magnetic snap.

This intermediate sewing pattern includes 5 pages of illustrated instructions and full-sized computer-generated pattern pieces that you can print at home.

You can buy the pattern on my website as an instant download, or on Etsy if you prefer.

Jordynn Mackenzie's Indoor Craft Show Necessities Checklist:

It seems like there are more and more people selling handmade goods at craft shows these days, and that's awesome!

Every time I do a show, I make a list of little things to bring with me so I have the most comfortable day possible. I've never actually typed this list up. So I thought I'd do just that and then share it with you.

The list includes everything except your inventory and display furniture, so it should all fit in a small suitcase or box.

But beware - you'll be the one everyone goes to when something suddenly comes up and they need a piece of duct tape :)

Jordynn Mackenzie's Indoor Craft Show Necessities Checklist:
  • float with lots of change (fanny packs are great for this)
  • calculator
  • receipt book
  • pens + pencils
  • sketch book for writing and doodling on
  • paper for extra sign making
  • a sharpie
  • tape - a couple of kinds if you can
  • twine
  • clothes pegs
  • safety pins
  • an ironed table cloth
  • clear signage or price tags
  • sewing kit (including thread, needles, pins, thimble)
  • scissors
  • business cards
  • fliers promoting your other craft shows
  • sign up sheet for your mailing list
  • gift bags and tissue or other packaging materials
  • a bagged lunch and some easy to eat snacks
  • reusable water and coffee containers
  • napkins or wipes
  • hand sanitizer
  • a bag for garbage

Feel free to print and use this list and share it with any crafters you know.

Winter Fling... a Craft Thing

For those that I haven't told, I am super excited about a show that I am helping organize called "Winter Fling ... a Craft Thing" on December 5 at St Stephen-in-the-Fields (103 Bellevue Avenue at College St. and Bellevue)

We have 24 AMAZING vendors for this show and lots of SUPER FANTASTIC volunteers to help the day go smoothly. And of course, where would we be without our OUTSTANDING Sponsors?

With the printing help of Kid Icarus, some sewing and pressing by myself and Krecklo, and donations from our Vendors and Sponsors, we've put together some really great looking loot bags for the door that are going to go FAST.

But that's not all! We're also setting up a number of raffles so that if you don't get a loot bag, you'll have the chance to win some super cool prizes donated by our Sponsors and Vendors. (more on that later though...)

So you should plan to be in Kensington Market on Saturday, December 5th for some fun holiday shopping and general crafty goodness!

Oh did I mention I designed the poster and website? :)

Experiments in fabric printing - Linoleum Block

Block Printing

I've been experimenting with printing fabrics (up next - screen printing) and here's the first repeated pattern I've completed.

It takes a good amount of pressure and ink, but I really like the finished result.
I made the repeated pattern into a sort of puzzle piece and mounted it onto plexiglass so that it would be easier to line up the repeated pattern. As you can see, I'm still pretty new to this and am not very good at printing without seams.

Block Printing

But I think it looks fantastic made up into wallets!
